Research Professional

2013-2024

Lisa Won received her PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Chicago. She has been with the Kraig lab for eleven years where she has overseen all laboratory activities. Dr. Won has extensive experience working with whole animal models of migraine, primary immune cell cultures and primary brain cell cultures as well as hippocampal brain slice cultures in models of health and disease.  She has been involved in studies addressing the therapeutic potential of intranasal administration of insulin-like growth factor or dendritic cell-derived exosomes in rat preclinical models of migraine. Dr. Won has also utilized adeno-associated viral transduction to target expression of redox-sensitive biosensors to the cytosol or mitochondrial matrix of cells in organotypic slice culture for investigating subcellular redox imbalance and oxidative stress associated with migraine. In addition, Dr. Won evaluated the efficacy of intranasal administration of insulin-like growth factor to reduce pain-like behavior in a rat model of fibromyalgia.
